Lehigh Valley — Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton), in partnership with Representative Jeanne McNeill (D-Lehigh), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA), has delivered $1.5 million in state funding to advance the next phase of expansion at Lehigh Valley International Airport. The investment will help fund the construction of a new structured parking garage, adding 1,000 new parking spaces to support the airport’s rapid growth and future capacity needs.
“When I ran for office, I promised to bring real investment back to the Lehigh Valley, and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Senator Nick Miller. “LVIA is one of our region’s most important economic engines. As passenger demand rises, this expansion ensures we stay ahead of the curve and continue driving job growth and business opportunity.”
The $1.5 million is part of a broader state effort under Governor Shapiro’s leadership to invest in core infrastructure that supports Pennsylvania’s long-term competitiveness. For LVIA, these funds will preserve existing facilities, expand services, and ensure the airport remains a key hub for both business and leisure travelers.
“We’re putting state dollars to work to strengthen infrastructure and position the Lehigh Valley for long-term success.” Senator Miller added.
“Governor Shapiro is focused on improving our infrastructure while also expanding business opportunities,” PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said. “This investment supports jobs while meeting the region’s current and future needs.”
“As a critical multimodal transportation hub, there is an immediate need for additional public parking at Lehigh Valley International Airport,” LVIA Public and Government Relations Director Colin Riccobon said. “This funding will help build the foundation to construct a new parking structure which expands an important piece of airport infrastructure for serving our growing region. We are grateful for the support of legislative leaders and PennDOT for recognizing the importance of this project.”
The announcement follows another significant milestone earlier this month, as LVIA broke ground on a new Marriott hotel adjacent to the terminal, expanding hospitality options and strengthening the airport’s role as a gateway to the Lehigh Valley.
