Aug. 19, 2024 – Sen. Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) and Rep. Jeanne McNeill (D-Lehigh) today announced that they have secured $1 million for pedestrian safety and traffic improvements for Coplay Borough.
“Pedestrian safety is of the utmost importance for both our residents and visitors,” said Miller. “We want our Coplay neighborhoods to feel safe and secure so that families are able to enjoy time outside, whether it be a walk or a bike ride.”
Miller added that this funding will be providing necessary updates to infrastructure across the borough.
“Investing in improvements in transportation will provide needed revisions so that both our drivers and pedestrians feel safer,” added Miller. “Unfortunately, we have too many preventable accidents in the Lehigh Valley. This funding will go toward being proactive in making Coplay a safer place for everyone.”
McNeill said, “I’m thrilled that PennDOT has made a significant investment into our community. This funding will go a long way to help increase safety for our pedestrians and help reduce traffic concerns. Increasing safety for individuals living in and traveling through my district is a high priority of mine, and I know this will go a long way to help.”
Miller added that public safety is one of his top priorities and he will continue to advocate to bring this type of state funding back to the Lehigh Valley.
The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Awards.
