August 22, 2025 – Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh-Northampton) announced two farms in the 14th District will be preserved through Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program. The State Agriculture Land Preservation Board voted to protect 2,017 acres across 33 farms in 16 counties, including two farms in Senator Miller’s Northampton County district.

The following farms will be preserved:

  • Estate of Evelyn I. Spengler, 37-acre crop farm, East Allen Township
  • Roger C. and Trudy P. Unangst #3, 50-acre crop farm, East Allen Township

“I have witnessed the crucial role that our local farmers play in sustaining our economy, supporting community food banks and charitable organizations, and providing for their own families,” said Senator Miller. “Their contributions play a vital role in society, highlighting the importance of safeguarding green spaces from commercial development. We must ensure they can continue to thrive and do what they do best. Thank you to Governor Shapiro and his administration for their unwavering commitment to recognizing the importance protecting our farmers.”
