March 27, 2026 – Today, Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) announced a $40,000 Veterans’ Trust Fund grant to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania. The funding, part of an $804,973 statewide investment by Governor Shapiro’s administration, will support programs addressing food insecurity and other challenges facing Pennsylvania veterans.

Second Harvest Food Bank’s MilitaryShare program supports veteran, reserve, and active-duty military families, providing monthly boxes with staple foods plus fresh produce, dairy, and lean proteins to more than 500 families.

“Second Harvest Food Bank has long been a trusted partner in our community, supporting local veterans through its MilitaryShare program,” said Senator Miller. “We have a fundamental responsibility to support those who served and sacrificed for our country. With the investment from Governor Shapiro’s administration, we are working to uphold that commitment. Today’s funding will help Second Harvest Food Bank continue serving more than 500 families and help ensure veterans in our community have the stability and opportunity to thrive.”

Investments Include:

  • $40,000 to Second Harvest Food of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania: To provide food to veterans and their families through the MilitaryShare program.

The Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF) is funded by donations from Pennsylvanians through online contributions, driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals, and sales of veteran‑themed license plates. Every contribution goes directly to grants that support veterans, with no administrative or salary costs.

All grant awards are contingent upon the completion of a fully executed grant agreement.
