May 4, 2026 − The Fund to Benefit Children & Youth announced today it will receive a $50,000 DCED grant secured by State Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton), supporting critical services for abused, neglected, and at-risk children in the Lehigh Valley.
Established in 1991, the Fund to Benefit Children & Youth is an outgrowth of the Lehigh County Office of Children and Youth Services. Over the past 13 years, the Fund has helped nearly 18,000 children by fulfilling more than $2,300,000 in requests for essential items such as beds, dressers, educational enrichment, air conditioners for children with asthma, and emergency utility payments.
“We are so incredibly grateful to Senator Miller,” said Jane Ervin, Fund Chair. “These are kids with nowhere else to turn. When we give a child a longed-for opportunity to sleep in a bed and not on a towel on the floor, for example, we’re giving her hope, encouragement, and self-confidence. Without the kind of help that Senator Miller has given us, we could not serve the kids in our backyard.”
“The Fund to Benefit Children & Youth serves a vital role in the Lehigh Valley by supporting children and families when they need it most,” said Senator Miller. “For the past 13 years, they have provided beds, clothing, and help with basic household needs to nearly 18,000 families. This $50,000 grant supports an organization making a real difference for disadvantaged families in the Lehigh Valley. Funds from this grant will help provide critical resources for at-risk children and families from safe sleeping arrangements and housing stability to healthcare access and support for children with disabilities.”
