HARRISBURG, June 11, 2026 – Senator Nick Miller (D–Lehigh/Northampton) announced over $500,000 in grants to supporting vulnerable youth, preventing violence and delinquency, and strengthening community safety in the Lehigh Valley.

Last year, Senator Nick Miller was appointed to the School Safety and Security Committee of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), underscoring his commitment to public safety and the well-being of Pennsylvania’s students, educators, and residents. The 2025-2026 budget invests $62,150,000 in PCCD’s VIP line item and $100,000,000 for School Safety and Mental Health Grants.  

“Keeping our communities safe starts by investing in our young people,” said Senator Miller. “This funding expands proven programs that prevent violence, combat substance abuse, and provide critical support for children and families in crisis. By making these investments today, we are strengthening families, improving public safety, and creating brighter futures across the Lehigh Valley.”  

A total of $570,380 in grants was approved for initiatives in Senator Miller’s district. 

  • $170,382 State Violence and Delinquency Prevention Program Award to Big Brothers Big Sister of the Lehigh Valley, Inc. for their Sports Buddies College Partnership Expansion.
  • $199,998 State Substance Abuse Education and Demand Reduction Award to Valley Youth House Committee, Inc for their Bounce Back Expansion East Penn School District.
  • $100,000 to State Endowment Act Award to Lehigh County Chief Executive Officer for their Victim Advocacy for Lehigh County’s Children project.
  • $100,000 Endowment Act – DVSOs (Category 4) Award to Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley, Inc. for their Services for Victims of Child Sexual Abuse project.
