September 15, 2026 – Senator Miller announced today $9,116,099 in funding across the Lehigh Valley in Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) grants for various projects in the 14th Senatorial District.
“These investments are about delivering results for our communities,” said Senator Miller. “From giving our firefighters and police the equipment they need to keep people safe, to preserving community assets like the Civic Theatre and Lil’ Le-Hi Fish Hatchery, this funding addresses priorities I’ve heard directly from local leaders and residents. I’m proud to bring more than $9 million back to the Lehigh Valley and will continue fighting to make sure our communities receive the resources they deserve.”
This follows Senator Miller’s meetings with several organizations and local leaders, including a tour of the Civic Theatre to discuss their needs, a visit to the Lil’ Le‑Hi Fish Hatchery, and conversations with townships and boroughs about their priorities at his Coffee and Conversations around the 14th District.
“I will continue showing up, listening to our boroughs, townships, first responders, and community leaders, and bringing their priorities to Harrisburg,” said Senator Miller. “These investments are the result of turning those conversations into action and making sure our communities have the resources they need to grow, stay safe, and move forward.”
The LSA grants totaled $9,116,099 and were awarded during the CFA’s board meeting Tuesday morning.
The awardees and a brief description of the projects are as follows:
LEHIGH COUNTY
- $1,000,000 to Whitehall Township to purchase a fire truck to replace a 2000 KME Renegade pumper that has exceeded its useful life and no longer meets modern standards.
- $650,000 to the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority to purchase and install elevators, parking access equipment, and EV charging stations for the new five‑level airport parking garage.
- $500,000 to Ripple Community Inc. to renovate a former church property into a community services center with medical respite rooms, nonprofit office space, and twelve apartments, while preserving the historic exterior.
- $380,000 to Lil’ Le Hi Fish Hatchery for critical upgrades to fish production infrastructure through restoration and epoxy coating of multiple ponds and installation of new aerators to improve capacity and fish health.
- $384,048 to the Civic Theatre of Allentown to complete capital improvements addressing structural deterioration, water intrusion, energy inefficiency, and safety hazards, including replacing deteriorated rehearsal hall windows, rusted and misaligned exterior doors, outdated bathrooms, and sealing the building envelope to prevent stormwater leaks.
- $375,000 to the City of Allentown to replace the Allentown Fire Department’s 15‑year‑old robot, which has reached the end of its service life. The new EOD robot will support the bomb squad with improved mobility and remote X-ray capabilities.
- $350,000 to Whitehall Township to purchase a milling machine for the Public Works Department, which maintains 147 miles of roadway.
- $350,000 to South Whitehall Township to purchase a new fire engine to replace Engine 3 with a modern, NFPA‑compliant unit for the Cetronia Volunteer Fire Department.
- $275,000 to Catasauqua Borough to purchase a new Vac Truck for maintenance of water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems.
- $855,000 to the Allentown Art Museum to design a new facility to replace the aging museum building, enabling the museum to better meet community needs.
- $150,000 to the City of Allentown to purchase 250 new service weapons equipped with red dot sights, locks, and holsters, along with thirteen certified ballistic shields to replace expired units.
- $147,522 to Salisbury Township to install a flood warning system at Lehigh and 33rd Streets.
- $116,194 to Coplay Volunteer Fire Department to purchase and outfit a 2026 Ford F‑350 Super Duty as a multipurpose fire support vehicle.
- $90,000 to Emmaus Borough to address deteriorated park amenities, including rotted bathhouse stalls and benches, an unstable pavilion roof, and a walking bridge that has become a safety concern.
- $79,600 to Fountain Hill for the purchase and upfitting of a new police vehicle to support traffic patrols and proactive crime prevention.
- $54,950 to the Allentown Commercial and Industrial Development Authority for improvements to a facility at 801 W. Greenleaf Street to support job creation and leasing for manufacturing and commercial use.
- $50,000 to the Da Vinci Science Center to purchase an SUV, a mobile planetarium, and virtual reality equipment to support expanded educational outreach programs.
- $50,000 to Catasauqua Borough to replace its salt shed, improving operational efficiency, winter maintenance reliability, and eliminating runoff hazards.
- $29,400 to Planned Parenthood Keystone’s Allentown Health Center for infrastructure improvements, including installation of a supplemental ductless mini‑split system and updated interior paint and finishes that have deteriorated over years of use.
NORTHAMPTON COUNTY
- $925,119 to the Lehigh Township Municipal Authority for the City of Bethlehem Interconnection Water Main Project to extend the water main for the proposed interconnection.
- $350,000 to North Catasauqua Borough to purchase a new fire truck and associated equipment.
- $300,000 to the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Department to purchase radios for municipal and emergency service operations, replacing aging equipment lacking interoperability.
- $300,000 to Hanover Township to purchase self‑contained breathing apparatuses and related equipment for the Volunteer Fire Company, replacing aging gear and improving firefighter safety.
- $246,470 to Northampton Borough to purchase a new street sweeper to replace the existing unit that has reached the end of its service life.
- $150,000 to HCSC‑Blood Center to purchase two bloodmobiles for use in Northampton County.
- $125,000 to Moore Township to purchase an excavator for the Public Works Department.
- $100,000 to Walnutport Borough to purchase a dump truck for the Public Works Department to replace a 25‑year‑old vehicle with mechanical and body issues.
- $90,738 to Bushkill Township to purchase and outfit a police K‑9 vehicle to replace an outdated vehicle lacking temperature regulation features needed for canine safety.
- $75,000 to Northampton Borough to purchase two new 2025 Chevy Tahoe 4×4 police patrol vehicles.
- $47,490 to Moore Township to purchase and install a digital sign at 2491 Community Drive to broadcast emergency alerts, promote events, share municipal updates, and support public safety messaging.
- $41,472 to Walnutport Borough to purchase new police equipment including tasers, vehicle cameras, and body cameras.
