August 22, 2025 – Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh-Northampton) has announced that four broadband providers will be awarded a total of $2,863,741 through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, following today’s vote by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA).

This investment through BEAD will lead to job creation, stimulate economic growth, and extend broadband access to Pennsylvania homes and businesses that currently lack service.

Providers awarded after PBDA’s vote today will benefit portions of the 14th District with fiber, hybrid fiber, and LEO Satellite technology.

The following providers will be awarded:

  • Comcast Cable
  • Verizon
  • Amazon Kuiper Satellite
  • SpaceX Satellite

“Access to basic internet services should be available to all residents of Pennsylvania,” said Senator Nick Miller. “In my district, this investment will be strategically allocated across our communities to enhance access to affordable and efficient high-speed internet. This improved broadband connectivity will empower our students to utilize these resources for their education, ensuring they receive the best possible learning experience. Additionally, our healthcare professionals will benefit from more reliable internet access, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively. Thank you to Governor Shapiro and the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) for their commitment to bridging the digital divide with today’s investment.”

The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program aims to help residents and businesses gain access to affordable high-speed internet through investments in broadband planning, deployment, mapping, equity, and adoption activities.

All projects remain subject to NTIA approval and acceptance by the applicants. Adjustments may be required during NTIA’s review of the Final Proposal, and applicants may also choose not to move forward with certain projects or project areas. In such cases, selections may shift to the next-ranked applicant/project. As a result, provisional selections—and the overall BEAD spend—are subject to change.
