Addressing Consumer Costs: Health Insurance Transparency

On Monday, September 21, 2026, Senate Democratic Policy Committee Chair Nick Miller along with Senator Art Haywood will host a Policy Hearing Addressing Consumer Costs: Health Insurance Transparency.

The Committee will explore the commonwealth’s current reporting and transparency measures within health care coverage and identify ways to better improve upon those standards. How can the General Assembly act to enhance the accessibility of data and other costs-related information so that it’s easier to navigate or understand – establish user-friendly cost calculating tools, expand reporting requirements, or operate a state-maintained public dashboard? Sen. Haywood will collect feedback from advocates and experts to help develop new legislation.

This hearing will be held at the Chestnut Hill Hospital located at 8835 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118.

Adult-Use Cannabis in Pennsylvania

On Friday, September 25, 2026, Senate Democratic Policy Committee Chair Nick Miller (D-14) will host a hearing  alongside Senator Senator Sharif Street. This hearing will examine modernizing the commonwealth’s adult use cannabis laws, a conversation Sen. Street has been working to advance across multiple legislative sessions. The focus will include enforcement and safety needs, social and economic considerations, as well as how to ensure that meaningful criminal justice reform updates are included. Please note: this hearing immediately follows a separate summit event as part of the 9th annual Cannabis Opportunities Conference at the hotel.
