Aug. 12, 2024 –Sen. Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) announced today that the Allentown Symphony has been awarded $100,000 to use for marketing and promotional purposes.

“I visited Miller Symphony Hall recently and it is a beautiful, historic building located in the heart of Allentown,” said Miller. “This funding will go toward ensuring more people are aware of the programs the symphony offers, letting more residents and visitors take advantage of such a cultural asset.”

The symphony hall has been a staple in Allentown since the 1800s. It offers a variety of shows for audiences of all ages.

“The Allentown Symphony and Miller Symphony Hall have been partners with the commonwealth for decades,” said Al Jacobsen, the executive director of the Allentown Symphony/Miller Symphony Hall, “Since 2017, this partnership has enabled the symphony, a not-for-profit organization, to continue and grow its mission-driven programming, including music education programs that benefit the region’s children and adults. These programs make the Lehigh Valley a better place to live, work and play. The Allentown Symphony is grateful to the commonwealth, Sen. Nick Miller and the entire local delegation of senators and representatives from the Lehigh Valley for their enthusiasm and support.”

Miller added, “Many of our art and music venues are still struggling to come back after the pandemic. It is my hope that all 1,100 seats in the venue are full for all of the upcoming shows, thanks to wider awareness.”

The funding comes via the American Rescue Plan Act.
