December 15, 2022 – Today, Senator-Elect Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) announced $10,196,931 in grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) for multiple safety and security upgrades and law enforcement initiatives throughout Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
“Over ten million dollars is being invested in the safety and security of our residents,” said Miller. “I’m happy to see these twenty-one grants support enhancement and upgrade projects that will serve our communities in a multitude of ways, including deterring hate crimes, ensuring law enforcement has up to date technology and providing tools that allow them to serve communities thoroughly and efficiently.”
PCCD announced awards for a number of grant programs, including the Non-Profit Security Grant Fund, State Medical Marijuana Act Enforcement Funds, Federal American Rescue Plan Act Funds – Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program, Federal American Rescue Plan Act Funds – Gun Violence Investigation & Prosecution Grant Program, Federal Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Funds, State Children’s Advocacy Center Funds, Federal Victims of Crime Act, State Rights and Services Act, and State Victims of Juvenile Offenders Funds, and the State Violence & Delinquency Prevention Program Funds.

Project description: Funding will be used to support increased patrol presence for gun violence suppression through supporting overtime pay for patrol officers. Gunshot detection technology will be able to target the location of shots fired in the city and direct officers where to go in response

Project description: Funds will be used to purchase an upgraded forensic microscope, camera, a doppler chronograph, and a ballistic gel starter kit
