ALLENTOWN, PAAugust 17, 2026 − Senator Nick Miller today announced a $545,750 state investment to connect Trexler and Cedar Creek Parks through an ADA-accessible pedestrian and bicycle route, making it easier and safer for residents to access two of Allentown’s treasured green spaces.

The funding, awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF), is part of 50 transportation projects receiving state support through the Shapiro Administration.

“Connecting Trexler Park and the Rose Garden/Cedar Beach area closes a critical gap in the MLK Trail network and moves us closer to creating a continuous, connected trail system across Allentown,” said Senator Nick Miller. “I was proud to secure this investment because it will give residents a safer, more accessible way to walk, bike and travel between our neighborhoods, parks and green spaces.”

Investment Includes:

  • $545,750 to the City of Allentown to connect Trexler and Cedar Creek Parks through an ADA-accessible pedestrian and bicycle route.

The investment builds on Senator Miller’s commitment to expanding and improving Allentown’s parks and trail network. Senator Miller has spearheaded and secured funding for the MLK Trail Connectivity Project, which aims to connect existing parks and pathways throughout Allentown and ultimately create an approximately 8-mile network linking neighborhoods, urban amenities and outdoor spaces.

Through his Allentown Parknership video series, Senator Miller has highlighted parks throughout the city and the important role they play in bringing residents together, promoting recreation and strengthening community connections.

PennDOT evaluated the applications and made selections based on qualifying criteria which included safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
