March 18, 2026 – Senator Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) announced that The Century Promise will receive a $50,000 grant to support its pre-apprenticeship programs, helping Allentown School District students graduate with a clear pathway into high-priority careers. The investment will strengthen career-connected learning, expand employer-aligned training opportunities, and help students transition into competitive careers.

“Strong career pathways begin with opportunities for students to learn, grow, and explore their potential early in their career journey, and The Century Promise has consistently put students at the forefront of opportunity,” said Senator Miller. “Graduates of its pre-apprenticeship program have gone on to successful careers with the IBEW, LVHN, the Carpenters Union, and other respected institutions. Securing this grant for The Century Promise will help ensure that Allentown students gain the skills, mentorship, and real-world experience needed to transition from the classroom into family-sustaining careers.”

“We are incredibly grateful for Senator Miller’s investment in The Century Promise,” said Yusuf Dahl, Chief Executive Director of The Century Promise. “This funding will directly accelerate our work as ‘Connection Architects,’ ensuring students have a clear career pathway before high school graduation. By bridging the gap between classroom learning and regional industry needs, we are not just preparing students for jobs, we are building the talent pipeline for our region’s future.”

The funding will support program staff, materials, administrative costs, and partnerships with employers and post-secondary institutions.

The Century Promise is a nonprofit organization that supports students through career-connected education, dual enrollment, one-on-one coaching, and work-based learning experiences.
