“Today’s landmark settlement sends a clear message that protecting children must come before the interests of powerful technology companies,” said Senator Nick Miller. “We have seen the very real impact social media and online platforms can have on the mental health and well-being of young people, and families deserve stronger protections and greater accountability. As Minority Chair of the Communications and Technology Committee and prime sponsor of Senate Bill 1090, protecting kids online remains a top priority for me. I will continue working with my colleagues to strengthen safeguards, hold technology companies accountable and ensure parents have the tools and protections they need to keep their children safe online.”
