April 23, 2025 − Senator Nick Miller issues the following statement in response to Redevelopment Authority of Lehigh County Agreements:
“Today’s approvals are a clear sign that we’re getting things done together and tackling long-standing challenges head-on. By addressing two of the most blighted and long-vacant sites in the Lehigh Valley, we’re demonstrating what effective leadership and strategic investment can achieve.
The Lehigh Valley Dairy RFP approved today will move the project forward with the diligence and urgency it deserves. While the original structure couldn’t be saved due to its condition, we were able to preserve the historic front tiles. As a result, we’re ready to begin the next chapter for this important site. Given its prime location, there’s no doubt there will be strong interest from developers eager to bring new life and economic activity back to this cornerstone property.
The Iron Works site is another high-profile redevelopment opportunity. The sale agreement marks a critical step toward restoring this historically significant location. The selected developer has a proven track record in adaptive reuse, and I’m confident they’ll deliver a project that reflects the site’s potential and serves the community well.
These are the kinds of results people want to see: vacant, blighted properties transformed into productive community assets. I’m proud to help move these projects forward and will continue advocating for investments that improve our region and enhance quality of life. Thank you to Chris Gulotta and the entire board for their efforts in making this happen.”
